Beautiful Recitation

Assalam-o-Alaikum,

I just found out a very soothing recitation of the Glorious Quran. It is available for download on this link:

Notice how the recitor raises and lowers the tone to avoid monotony. There is also a lengthening of the words to make them sound beautiful, which is in accordance with the practice of the Prophet(pbuh).

Poem: Praising Allah

I know you are there
Little bird,
Covered by rich green, talking to the tree
Yes, a talking tree!

I know you are hiding
Little ant,
Under the solid brown, listening to the song
Yes, the singing earth!

I know you are relaxing
Tiny drop of rain,
Inside the airy white, hearing the laugh
Yes, a laughing cloud!

I know you are dancing
Little bee,
Beside fresh colors, joining a prayer
Yes, a praying flower!

I know you are breathing
Little fish,
Deep in the wide blue, amazed by stories
Yes, the Historian Ocean!

I am sitting in my room
Seeing you all in the heart of my eye
Praising the work of God
Wishing to add more before I die

Talking tree
Singing earth
Laughing cloud
Praying flower; and
Historian Ocean
Let me join you and be sublime
Praising God till the end of our time!

Surah Al-Adiyat with multimedia

Salamz everyone,

I found this "Quranic" video today on islamictube.net (a Muslim youtube). I was thinking of making more of these ourselves. Also, making it kind of more interesting by adding Special effects, videos and sound effects in the background. It'll enhance the effect and will insha Allah lead to the viewer retaining the meaning of the verses...u know what I mean.

Was Islam really spread by the sword?

After going through my Islamic history course, thats what it looks like. or maybe thats cause all the books r written by westerners...

Invocation before sleep

Just the other day, while reading the Noble Quran I came across a Hadith mentioned in the Tafsir. The hadith is from Sahih Al-Bukhari.

Narrated Aisha (May Allah swt be pleased with her):

"Whenever Allah's Messenger pbuh went to bed, he used to recite Surat Al-Ikhlas, Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Nas, and then blow on his palms and pass them over his face and those parts of his body that his hands could reach. And when he fell ill, he used to order me to do like that for him." (Sahih Al Bukhari 7/5748)

Hmm...I don't see any mention of Ayat Al Kursi...where did that come from then??

Poem "Divine Wonder"

Quench spirit's thirst
Satisfy soul's hunger
Read the noble Quran
Be a part of divine wonder

It has wisdom in orders
and knowledge in stories
Peace is its message
Having solution to worries

With its beam wants do not wander
In its shadow tongues do not waver
Countless are its benefits
A witness of Allah’s favor

Read it once, twice or thrice
It never loses its freshness
Strange tales never become old
As they stand proud in uniqueness

Lives stitched on its fabric
Homes built on its soil
Will be placed in best lands
An Honest reward for their toil

Killing the beast inside you
It brings out your purest form
Washing away waste desires
It clears obsolete norms

Never astray it will lead you
Nor wandering it will leave you
Hold on to its rope firmly; and
Your name will be in the ‘Few’

The search man is involved in
End on its door,
Stepping into its world
He needs to search no more.
